Check out Part 2 here: https://fanspo.com/nba/s/warriors/grids/J60of4afS51SxG/team-usa-paris-2024-olympics-pt-2
Coming into the Summer Olympics, Team USA are THE favourites, THE team to beat. I will take team nickname suggestions in the comments. Probably something like Revenge Team or Avenge Team.
Anyways, 11 out of the 12 roster spots have been pretty much confirmed.
Starters:
Chef / JT / King / Slim Reaper / Process
Bench depth:
PG: Haliburton, Booker
SG: Edwards, Holiday
SF: N/A
PF: Arguably AD but I'll put him at C (don't argue about this in the comments, it's not that important)
C: AD, Bam
Notice how I said 11/12?
The 1 spot has a couple of contenders. Kawhi, PG, Jimmy, JBrown, Brunson, Kyrie, Mikal, Dame, and Spida.
I'll start with removing all the athletes that can't play a forward spot from that list. Seems pretty fair as they have 5 guards, 3 forwards and 3 centers so far. This leaves Kawhi, PG, Jimmy, Brown, and Mikal. Mikal and Brown just aren't at the caliber of player that I'd be looking for if I was Grant Hill and looking to fill that last spot, considering Kawhi, Jimmy, and PG are there. Out of those final 3 contenders, it seems Kawhi is the favourite. Makes sense, he's performed better than the other two this season, and he would be my pick. Ignore the grid's depth chart btw, had to try and fit it in a semi-positional way.
FINAL ROSTER:
THE CHEF, STEPHEN CURRY, FROM THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
TACO JAY, JAYSON TATUM, FROM THE BOSTON CELTICS
THE CHOSEN ONE, THE KING, MY SUNSHINE, LEBRON JAMES, FROM THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS
THE SLIM REAPER, KEVIN DURANT, FROM THE PHOENIX SUNS
THE PROCESS, JOEL EMBIID, FROM THE PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
DEVIN BOOKER, FROM THE PHOENIX SUNS
TYRESE HALIBURTON, FROM THE INDIANA PACERS
ANTHONY EDWARDS, FROM THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
JRUE HOLIDAY, FROM THE BOSTON CELTICS
KAWHI LEONARD, FROM THE LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
ANTHONY DAVIS, FROM THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS
BAM ADEBAYO, FROM THE MIAMI HEAT
Damn, no-one beating this team.
