NOP- Would have to overpay Murphy next year to keep him as a bench player. Getting Thybulle maintains having a 3/D guy but on a reasonable contract for 2 more years. They also move up in the draft from the 20s to 14 and then would have 2 picks in the teens. ALSO adding 3 seconds (if I was POR I would do less 2nds)
POR- They are looking for an athletic and tall 3/D player to operate at either the 3 or 4 (gives flexibility with Grant’s future). Getting Murphy helps Scoot with spacing and fits into the POR game plan of adding young, taller, more athletic players that can shoot. POR moves back in the draft, but there will still be role player talent in the 20s.
