After exceeding many expectations, Cleveland currently sits in the 1st seed pretty comfortably. But the 1 flaw I think they still have is the backup big rotation. In this trade, they get Robert Williams III, fixing their lack of backup big.
Why this makes sense for the Cavs:
No more Tristan Thompson minutes
Better defense on the non Mobley/Allen minutes
Why this makes sense for the Blazers:
Sell the vets and clear up playing times for the young guys
Getting back 2 second rounders
Expiring contract
Cavaliers new lineup after the trade:
Garland/Jerome/Mitchell/Porter
Mitchell/Strus/Merrill/Okoro
Strus/Okoro/Wade/Tyson
Mobley/Wade/Niang/Strus
Allen/Mobley/Williams III/Niang
