This is a no brainer for Houston. The trigger gets pulled on the rumoured trade to the Clippers, though in this instance LA keeps Marcus Morris and gives up Kennard, who didn't play a lot during the playoffs. The Rockets waive Ibaka (but keep him around to rehab) and he signs with a contender. They have to take on another bad contract in Kevin Love, but his previous relationship with KPJ - who Love has heaped praise on - and being able to use him to mentor Sengun as a great passing big man, means he can help in more ways than on court with the Rockets. Rubio comes in as the backup guard to KPJ who pretty much balances out his weakness'.
Wall being rumoured to go to the Clippers has been out there a while, and all it takes is Kennard (who didn't play much), Bledsoe (who Wall is a CLEAR upgrade over) and Ibaka (who may miss a lot of the season after back surgery. Keeping Morris instead of Kennard means a. He can fill in as a backup small ball 5 and b. His defense will come in handy with Kawhi out for a chunk of the season. The hope here is that Wall likes it enough in LA to decline his last year and sign longer term on a friendlier contract (3 years $20m?).
Look at all these wings! Something the Cavs have struggled with the last few years. Another thing they struggled with was shooting. This is where Kennard helps. Getting Green, WCS and Dallas' 2025 and a couple seconds for Sexton seems like good value. Cavs take a shot on Green (who can't seem to find minutes in Dallas) and WCS as a back up C. Cavs also clear a BUNCH of cap, which could be helpful considering how much they splashed out this season - especially for a small market team.
Dallas has been looking for someone (other than THJ) next to Luka who can create his own shot and score in buckets. Sexton ticks those boxes. Losing picks on another young talent may be a hard pill to swallow, but Sexton has shown he's more than capable at this point in his career. After Sextons breakout start to the season last year, the fit next to Garland became a bit of an issue due to neither having the size to off set the other. That wouldn't be a problem next to Luka. Hoping they can sort things out with Kristaps because the trio of Luka, Sexton and Porzingis should rock the west for the next few years.
