If the Wizards decide to pivot and sell off some assets this trade allows them to get a young center and a pick in this year's draft back as compensation for KP and Deni. Most importantly it gives them their own pick back clearing the way for any future trades they might want to make using their picks

As for the Knicks... we reunite with an old friend who clearly regrets how things left and wants to come home. Arms open buddy, and bring that defensive wing with ya. Maybe a 3rd pick would be needed but it would probably be the Bucks 25 as anything else might be too high a price. This seemed fair but open to the idea of needing a very protected 3rd pick to sweeten the pot further.
