Trade Breakdown
Spurs
Spurs Send: Jakob Pertel
Spurs Receive: Landry Shamet, Chris Durate, and a 2022 2nd
Why Spurs Do This: The Spurs were last place in the entire in NBA, for three pointers made. To fix that, they get Chris Durate who is considered the second best three point shooter in the 2021 NBA Draft Class behind Corey Kispert, and they get Landry Shamet who has a career average of 39.7 percent from three.
Suns
Suns Send: Landry Shamet, Jalen Smith, Abdel Nader, 2022 2nd, 2025 1st top 8 protected, and a 2023 first
Suns Receive: Jakob Pertel, Mychal Mulder, and Kevon Looney
Why The Suns Do This: They do this to improve their defense. Jakob Pertel is an excellent defender and he will contribute a lot. They also get Kevon Looney, who was an okay defender for the Warriors and he could grab rebounds pretty well.
Pacers
Pacers Send: Chris Durate and Myles Turner
Pacers Receive: James Wiseman, Jalen Smith, Moses Moody, 2022 2nd via TOR, 2028 second top 8 protected, and a 2025 second via CHA
Why The Pacers Do This: It may seem crazy that the Pacers would give up their lottery pick, but they also get another lottery pick in return. Moses Moody and Chris Durate also play similar. They are both considered the best three point shooters in their draft class. To make sure the Pacers do this, they also get Wiseman in the deal.
Warriors
Warriors Send: Kevon Looney, James Wiseman, Moses Moody, Mychal Mulder, 2022 2nd, 2028 2nd, and a 2025 second
Warriors Receive: Javale Mcgee, Myles Turner, Abdel Nader, 2025 1st top 8 protected, and a 2023 1st
Why Warriors Do This: The Warriors do this because this will make them a top three defensive team in the NBA. Javale Mcgee and Myles Turner are elite defenders, and everybody knows it. Myles Turner was a defensive player candidate before he was hurt. The Warriors also get some picks because they are giving up their two lottery picks (Moses Moody and James Wiseman).
