fresh off of a Finals run, it’s clear where the Mavs need to improve. the Mavs need a 3rd scorer that can both create their own shot and play off the ball, as well as needing more defense on the wings. Kuzma can potential check all those boxes. from back in his LA days, Kuzma showed he can be a very good defender when playing on a championship contender, and his time in Washington highlighted his scoring ability. Kuzma’s contract also descends in annual value, another huge factor for a Mavs team that’s cap will continue going up with extensions for Luka and Kyrie in the near future. for the Wizards, it’s clear Kuzma doesn’t fit their rebuilding timeline and they should trade him for assets. Josh Green is a young 2-way wing on a team friendly contract, and although the Mavs 2025 first round pick will probably be in the 20’s, the Wizards do need to be prioritizing draft capital. Tim Hardaway Jr is just here to make the salary work, but he’s shown to be a valuable shooter/scorer, Washington could potentially flip him to a contender for a 2nd round pick or two. the Wizards could also ask for Olivier Maxense-Prosper in this trade, and Dallas could and should still do this trade.

Note - this trade clears a tad bit of cap for Dallas, i’m not sure on the specific numbers but it could open up the full TPMLE for Dallas to bring back Derrick Jones Jr. which would be huge for them*
