Lakers have looked better under JJ Redick, but it’s clear this roster is not built to maximize LeBron and AD. they have guys that shoot but can’t defend, and guys that defend but can’t shoot. DeAndre Hunter is a good middle ground, a typical 3 and D guy who has good size to guard bigger forwards. in theory he should fit fantastic next to LeBron and AD. the Hawks have looked impressive this season, with the trio of Dyson Daniels, Rissacher, and Jalen Johnson looking like the future at the 2/3/4. they don’t need Hunter anymore, who is also constantly injured, so they flip him for a few 2nd round picks. and they players they get back could have some actual utility! Vanderbilt (if he ever gets healthy), fits into their new team identity of lengthy defensive wings next to Trae, and even though Gabe Vincent has been horrible this year, the Hawks have a massive need for a backup ball handler. potential win-win trade for both sides.
