WHY ROCKETS DO IT:
Eric Gordon is good, but there is a reason if no contenders trade for him: his contract is too big and nobody has about 15M of talent to sacrifice.
With this trade Rockets get a younger guy, with a smaller contract who could be a nice trade chip in the next two years. In the meantime, they still get a young player and 2 small picks.
WHY SPURS DO IT:
In case you don't know, Pop is about 11-12 wins away from being the coach with the most wins in NBA history. With this trade they get an upgrade of McDermott and Dragic, who could help them a lot off the bench.
Starting 5: Murray, White, Keldon, Markkanen, Poeltl
Second Unit: Dragic, Lonnie/Forbes, Vassell/Primo, KBD, Landale/Collins
They wanted Markkanen this past summer, so they should be happy with this trade.
WHY RAPS DO IT:
They get a chance to get a 46+ second round pick for Dragic, that's the best they can get. If they don't re-sign Boucher, they could even give Thad Young a 1 year MLE this summer to trade him later to a contender.
WHY CAVS DO IT:
Markkanen was a non sense, it looked like it worked in the first 10 games or so, but now he's clearly not the right player for them. They need more a creator and get Eric Gordon, who will expire with Love (last year not guaranteed), so It's a way to dump Markkanen too. Windler and that second are nothing. They also get a backup center, they need one and better than Ed Davis too.
Starting 5: Garland, Gordon, Okoro, Mobley, Allen.
