The key here is WHY for the Hawks. You’d think on first glance it would be a terrible fit because of the lack of defense, but then you see…
Young-Murray-Mitchell (At The 3)-Okongwu-Capela
…that if you move Okongwu to the 4, you suddenly have a very talented, balanced roster. Young and Mitchell are balanced out by the defense of Murray, and the good news here is that Mitchell can catch-and-shoot and is better at playing off-ball than Trae and DeJounte. Capela and Okongwu are great defenders, Okongwu especially, and it would be great for them to work with each other, both for Okongwu’s development and a better defensive partner than Collins for Capela so he can do his job.
And the depth is left as:
A. Holiday-Bogdanovic- Jus. Holiday-Williams-Kaminsky
With Tyrese Martin and Chaundee Brown
That’s less depth than they had last year, but it’s a solid backup group, also knowing that Murray will play a lot with the backup unit and run the offense.
