WHY HORNETS DO IT:
Holmes is the best center they can get without sacrificing picks or main pieces. Barnes is a decent replacement of Hayward and expiring.
Starting 5: LaMelo, Rozier, Bridges, Barnes, Holmes
WHY KINGS DO IT:
They trade down from 8 (or 7, or 9, but 8 is the most likely) to 11 and sacrifice Barnes and Holmes to get a (kind of) star that could fit with Sabonis' offensive game.
They also get back a solid vet they would help a lot their rotation.
Starting 5: Fox, Mitchell, Holiday, Randle, Sabonis
Second Unit: Burks, Donte, Moe, Lyles, Len + #11
If that #11 has a good impact on the team, they could finally reach playoffs.
WHY KNICKS DO IT:
Everybody knows Randle wants out, so they almost dump his contract. For him they get a decent young player, a "win" now player and a likely trade up of 3 spots. Selecting at 8 or 11 is very different if you want to trade for a top 4 pick or if you hope for somebody to fall. For exemple at 8 they are pretty sure to get Duren, at 11 he could be gone.
