Suns - the Suns have looked great to start the season, they’ve filled many of their holes including PG play with Tyus Jones, as well as wing defense with Ryan Dunn. currently they have a problem at center. the season just started, but Nurkic has looked horrible. Plumlee has been solid, but if he’s your best center option your championship aspirations are likely limited. while overrated by most casual NBA fans, Walker Kessler could genuinely be a good answer for the Suns center problems. his interior presence defensively as a shot blocker would be valuable, and his rookie scale contract allows Phoenix to actually be able to acquire him. while Monte Morris has been pretty good for the Suns this year, Gabe Vincent could potentially be an upgrade. he’s much better defensively than Morris, and has experience playing next to superstars as well as playing great in the playoffs. the Suns are well into the 2nd apron, but this trade does shed them ~4 million which goes a long ways in terms of luxury tax.

Jazz - the Jazz have long held their asking price of 2 first rounders for Walker Kessler, and while they don’t accomplish that here they do get some pretty good value. that fully unprotected 2031 Suns first has potential to be an amazing draft pick, as KD will be long gone and the Suns as a whole could look completely different. Jalen Hood-Schfino has looked horrible as an NBA player thus far, but he is less than 2 years removed from being a first round pick and could possibly benefit from an opportunity on a rebuilding team. the Jazz currently don’t own many second round picks, so adding 4 unprotected 2nd’s is a nice touch. having to take on Nurkic’s 2 year deal stings, but as a rebuilding team it shouldn’t matter much. he’ll be easy to re-trade next season as an expiring anyways.

Lakers - this is probably the toughest sell here. the Lakers don’t really have a need for another scoring guard, and Vincent has played pretty solid for them. this probably comes down to if the Lakers want to add more on-ball creation responsibilities for Reaves and/or D’lo as the backup PG. as a player, Clarkson is streaky but is a talented scorer. the Lakers get him for pretty good value by only giving up JHS and a 2nd round pick in addition to Vincent. note* - Lakers would have to keep the roster at 14 players rather than 15 to avoid being a 2nd apron team.
