while the Suns trading two of their only tradable assets for a backup center isn’t ideal, it was a big need last season. Nick Richards is both very solid, as well as being cheap and under contract for 2 years. while Phoenix misses out on selecting in the first round, the pickup the Hornets 2nd round pick at #42, effectively moving down 20 spots. based on the reports that came out today about who Phoenix has worked out, it seems as if they are scouting mainly 2nd round prospects anyways, making this trade very realistic. for the Hornets, while Richards is a fine bench piece, getting a 1st round pick for him is an easy win.
