this trade is based off of today’s rumors of the Bulls, Jazz, and 76ers being in talks surrounding LaVine
Jazz - i don’t know why the Jazz have any interest in LaVine, and i don’t think they should personally. i guess if they do hypothetically trade for him, they’re betting on him raising his value and then flipping him for more in a year or so? in this trade the Jazz bet on LaVine while also getting a first round pick for Sexton and dumping John Collins contract.
Bulls - after today’s Caruso/Giddey trade it’s clear that Chicago is willing to embrace a new era. between Coby White, Dosumnu, Lonzo?, and now Giddey, they need to get rid of LaVine to clear up this backcourt logjam. John Collins and 2 second round picks is a very mediocre return, but they clear the logjam and get off of LaVine’s salary, and hey maybe they get something extra productive out of John Collins. after all they do need a PF.
76ers - everybody’s first thoughts when the Bulls/Jazz/76ers 3 team report came out was that the 76ers would be eyeing LaVine, which is just not true at all. another report also came out today that the 76ers are unlikely to go after Paul George now. seems like the 76ers are gonna try to use their cap space to obtain high end role players. Sexton could either start at SG or be a great 6th man for the 76ers, while being on a team friendly deal. a first round pick and 2 second’s for him seems like fair value.
i don’t like this trade at all for Utah, just going off of the reports from today
