note: Warriors would have some obstacles in terms of filling out the rest of the roster while staying under the first apron hard cap, and Miami and Chicago may have to waive players to clear roster space
Warriors -
reports have recently came out that the Warriors are serious about getting Curry a co-star, and if the stars available Jimmy Butler seems the most realistic. Jimmy’s point forward playstyle would be a good fit next to Curry, and while there would be shooting concerns playing Jimmy and Draymond together, the rest of the shooting on the roster should off set it. the Warriors also snag Nikola Vucevic who is having a great efficient season. his shooting next to 2 subpar shooters in Jimmy and Draymond will be very helpful, with his high post playmaking also being a useful skill. Torrey Craig is merely a throw in here, but he’s defensive abilities from the forward spot would be handy. Golden State can role out a starting lineup of Curry, Podz/Moody, Jimmy, Draymond, Vuc with a bench that consists of Podz/Moody, Waters III, Hield, Craig, Jackson-Davis. i would personally start Moody as his usage is much lower than Podz, and Podz ball handling would be useful as a backup PG.
Heat -
we’re on the verge of the Jimmy Butler Heat era being over. the team is very mid this season, and Jimmy is on an expiring contract. the Heat flip him and reset their timeline around Bam and Herro. Kuminga is the main selling point here, as he could be a main focal point long term. Miami also gets multiple useful role players in Looney and Kyle Anderson who they could keep or possibly flip for additional assets. Wiggins could and should be a starter for them as well, providing good defense and complimentary offense. getting 2 unprotected 1sts in 2026 and 2028 is a good haul for Miami as well. that 2028 pick specifically has a chance to be something good, as Curry, Jimmy, and Draymond will be in their mid/late 30’s. the Heat trade Thomas Bryant specifically to match salary.
Bulls -
its no secret the Vucevic era in Chicago is coming to an end, and reports came out suggesting that the bidding will start at 2 second round picks. here the Bulls get 3 second round picks, and all 3 players they get are on expiring contracts, not tying up Chicago in any long term money. although none of the 3 players they get back are particularly useful, getting 3 expiring contracts back is nice. Melton is already out for the year, Thomas Bryant is not very good, but maybe Chicago could flip Gary Payton II for a 2nd round pick or two.
