The Lakers apparently turned down a trade that would mean acquiring Myles Turner and Buddy Heild for the cost of Russell Westbrook and 2 first-round picks. “I'm told the Lakers and Pacers did engage in some trade conversations this week and the Pacers' demand for two unprotected first-round picks … is just not appealing for the Lakers,” said Shams Charania. I don't really understand why they would turn this down. This trade benefits both sides. The Lakers dump off Russ and acquire Myles Turner, an elite defender, and Buddy Hield, a shooter that they desperately need. The Pacers do this because they gain 2 valuable picks and continue to tank. The Lakers want to win now while they still have LeBron and AD. Once LeBron retires, the Lakers are likely going to be bad and those picks could be huge for the turn-around of the Pacers. Let me know what you think of this tread in the comments!
