Why Philadelphia Does This?

They get two young starting caliber players in Murray & Brooks that have potential to be All-Stars. Both of them have showed the ability to take the ball & get a bucket. They’re also both very good defenders, something that Philly needs to consider in return when dealing Simmons. The Sixers can’t just acquire a scoring guard without addressing the loss of Ben’s great defense. In this scenario, they acquire the defense that’ll be left behind if Simmons is dealt. I believe this trade keeps Philadelphia a top 3 seed in the eastern conference. If they can stay healthy & the Nets to continue to have problems with Kyrie & injuries, then I can see them going to the finals.

76ers Ideal Starting Lineup:

Murray, Green, Brooks, Harris, & Embiid

Backup Five:

Maxey, Curry, Thybulle, Niang, & Drummond

Rest Of Bench:

Springer, Milton, Joe, Korkmaz, & Reed

Why San Antonio Does This?

Murray is great & all, but he ain’t no Ben Simmons. By acquiring him, the Spurs can accelerate their rebuild & start consistently reaching the playoffs again in no time. Simmons has the potential to be a superstar in this league. He just needs his own team & good players around him that can shoot & defend. And San Antonio already will have a decent squad around him. White, Johnson, & McDermott will be with Simmons in the lineup. All can shoot above average from deep. Then you’ve got Poeltl, who is a great defensive center that protects the paint. Next you’ve got a nice young supporting cast that consists of Jones, Forbes, Primo, Walker IV, & Collins. Collins, when healthy, is a good big man that can space the floor, so he’ll probably see a lot of time with Ben in the lineup. To conclude, Simmons gives Popovich one last superstar to build around & create a championship team. Give him a couple years & these Spurs could be looking very scary.

Spurs Ideal Starting Lineup:

Simmons, White, Johnson, McDermott, & Poeltl

Backup Five:

Jones, Primo, Walker IV, Aminu, & Collins

Rest Of Bench:

Forbes, Merril, Diop, Samanic, & Eubanks/Landale

Why Memphis May Do This?

There has reportedly been a lot of interest in Brooks after his breakout series against Utah, & rightfully so. Now the Grizzlies don’t have to trade him, as he is a good player on their team, but doing so helps open up minutes for their other young guys in Bane & Williams. And it’s not like this is a poor return for him. They get two more young pieces in Devin Vassell & Jalen Smith. They were the #’s 10 & 11 picks in the draft, respectively. On top of that they get another future first & three seconds. That’s a pretty good return for Brooks not going to lie. If Memphis can develop their guys, they’ll have a really solid team going forward.

Grizzlies Ideal Starting Lineup:

Morant, Bane, Anderson, JJJ, & Adams

Backup Five:

Melton, Vassell, Williams, Clarke, & Smith

Rest Of Bench:

Jones, Dunn/Konchar, Culver, Aldama, & Tillman

Why Phoenix Does This?

The Suns came up short against the Bucks in the championship. But they are still title contenders, even with the Lakers, Jazz, & Warriors in the mix. They’ve already made some good moves this offseason like resigning Payne, trading for Shamet, & bringing McGee on board, but they can always look to add to their depth in order to really compete again this year for a title run. Young would be great fit on their team. He’s played very well the last couple of seasons & will bring valuable leadership off the bench. The one thing Phoenix can use to their advantage against others teams in the west is their depth, but we’ll see if it’ll be enough against the Lakers & other stacked teams like Milwaukee this time.

Suns Ideal Starting Lineup:

Paul, Booker, Bridges, Crowder, & Ayton

Backup Five:

Payne, Shamet, Johnson, Young, & Ayton

Rest Of Bench:

Payton, Randle, Nader, Hutchinson, & Kaminsky
