Rockets do it for the picks, they think the lakers picks would be more valuable so they give the nets some of their picks in return for the lakers picks

Nets do this to get some of their picks back and get young guys like Herro and Jovic

The Heat do this because they get KD and instantly become finals favourites, alongside getting Kendrick Nunn back, who can be a solid starting point guard.
