Trade Breakdown:

PHI Deals: Simmons

To TOR For: VanVleet, Dragic, 2023 1st, & 2025 Top 5 Protected 1st

PHI Then Flips: Dragic

To WAS For: Bertans & 2027 2nd

Why Philadelphia Does This?

They get a nice point guard that brings championship experience in FVV. VanVleet is a good scorer that can also create for others. He can get you 20 & 6 a game. Pair that with Embiid’s 28 a game & Harris’ near 20 a game & you have a solid big 3 in Philadelphia. The Sixers in this deal also get a nice shooter in Bertans, who’ll slide in as the primary backup four behind Harris. He should be a nice fit on this team because he can nail it from beyond the arc. Bertans should have no problem playing next to either Embiid or Drummond. On top of that, Philly also gets two future firsts that they can potentially to use in a trade down the line for a real superstar player. All in all, I believe this deal helps Philadelphia compete for a title in the short term & sets them up nicely to chase championships in the long term as well.

76ers Ideal Starting Lineup:

VanVleet, Thybulle, Green, Harris, & Embiid

Backup Five:

Maxey, Curry, Korkmaz, Bertans, & Drummond

Rest Of Bench:

Springer, Milton, Joe, Niang, & Reed

Why Toronto Does This?

Imagine what Toronto could do with a talent like Ben Simmons. Look at how they’ve already developed guys like Boucher, OG, & Siakam. Simmons would be a nice fit in Toronto because he brings his high IQ playmaking & defense to a team that can really use it. I can see Simmons helping this Raptors team return to the playoffs right away. Even though at this point in time everyone thinks Simmons sucks at basketball, he’s still a star player in the league. You have to give it up to him for being able to become a 3x All Star without shooting the ball at the point guard position. It takes a lot of skill to do that. Also, envision this closing game lineup for Toronto. Simmons at the point with Trent Jr as his backcourt partner. Barnes at the three with a front court of Anunoby & Siakam at center. That would be so exciting to watch & a solid lineup that can go toe to toe with the best of them.

Raptors Ideal Starting Lineup:

Simmons, Trent Jr, Anunoby, Siakam, & Birch

Backup Five:

Flynn, Barnes, Watanabe, Boucher, & Achiuwa

Rest Of Bench:

Banton, De Colo, Wainwright, Mykhailiuk, & Gillespie

Why Washington Does This?

The Wizards have an abundance of power forward & centers on their roster, so moving Bertans for a guard would help clear the logjam that they have created. Washington is a team that is trying to make the playoffs this upcoming season & rightfully so. They’ve got a very deep team now with the additions of Dinwiddie, KCP, Kuzma, Harrell, & the returns of Avdija & Bryant. So adding another veteran guard in Dragic that brings leadership & experience would be a very smart move in my opinion. Also, after this trade for Washington, they would have to dump Holiday’s contract somewhere else to get back under the luxury, which I feel they wouldn’t mind doing at all since they also have Neto.

Wizards Ideal Starting Lineup:

Dinwiddie, Beal, Avdija, Hachimura, & Gafford

Backup Five:

Dragic, Pope, Kispert, Kuzma, & Bryant

Rest Of Bench:

Neto, Winston, Gill, Todd, & Harrell
