considering this trade is between the two New York teams, i highly doubt it would ever happen. but value wise, i think it’s very fair
Knicks - Bogdanovic didn’t pan out entirely how the Knicks wanted and i’m sure they wouldn’t mind trading him. Cam Johnson adds similar shooting while being a much better defender. Cam Johnson would be Randle’s primary backup at PF and could also play SF in lineups next to Randle. the only downside is Cam Johnson’s contract is a bit pricey, especially when you consider raises for Hartenstein and OG this summer, as well as Brunson next summer. on the plus side, if the Knicks ever find a superstar target they like, Cam Johnson’s salary will be crucial for salary matching
Nets - ever since the Jordi Fernandez hiring, it seems as if the Nets are more willing to take a long term approach. trading Cam Johnson for value does just that. Brooklyn doesn’t own a single pick in this years draft, so acquiring pick 24 is a great get. Bogdanovic doesn’t fit the timeline of a “long term approach” but he could easily be flipped for additional value, most likely 2nd round picks. the Nets also pick up two additional 2nd round picks, one of them being their own which should be in the 30s. Diakete and Jeffries are just here to make the salaries match, and i’d assume they’d both be waived immediately after the trade.
