Why Philadelphia Does This?

The Sixers simply don’t need Ben Simmons to wait around for a star like Lillard or Beal to become available. This deal for them helps them compete in the short term with Embiid, which can range from anywhere before the trade deadline or after the season, & prepares them to make a big move in the future if a star like Beal or Lillard becomes available. Graham is a solid starting guard in the league & will help take some pressure off of Embiid offensively. Hart is a nice 3 & D player that teams love to have on their roster. And Murphy lll was the recent #17 pick in the draft & has a lot of potential. Top that off with four future first rounds picks & Philadelphia had a lot to work with going forward. Doing this trade gives them a really deep team heading into the season, which could be key against super teams like the Nets & Lakers who don’t really have much depth. And it also gets them under the luxury tax. I believe with the addition of these three guys on the roster, the Sixers can continue to be a top four team in the eastern conference.

76ers Ideal Starting Lineup:

Graham, Thybulle, Green, Harris, & Embiid

Backup Five:

Maxey, Curry, Hart, Niang, & Drummond

Rest Of Bench:

Springer, Milton, Korkmaz, Murphy lll, & Reed

Why New Orleans Does This?

The Pelicans do this to keep their young star in Williamson happy by building a solid team around him that can actually make the playoffs. Simmons would be a great fit on this team that just lost Ball to Chicago & had a very questionable defense last year. NOLA needs someone that can help run their offense efficiently & guard the opposing team’s best player. Simmons would bring out the best of Ingram & Williamson due to his high IQ passing abilities & talent to take it to the paint. He’ll obviously still have to develop his shot, especially because Zion will need his touches in the post. Even if he shoots only 30% from deep, that will help tremendously. Speaking of shooting, that’s where Terrance Ross comes in. With the addition of Simmons, who is currently a non-shooter, the Pelicans will need to find some guys that can play well around him. Ross is a great shooter that can feed off of Simmons excellent passing & Zion’s dominance in the paint. To conclude, I feel like bringing Simmons on board makes New Orleans a playoff caliber team in the tough western conference.

Pelicans Ideal Starting Lineup:

Simmons, NAW, Ingram, Williamson, & Valancinus

Backup Five:

Lewis Jr, Ross, Marshall, Jones, & Hernangomez

Rest Of Bench:

Carter-Williams, Joe, Louzada, Gabriel, & Hayes

Why Orlando Does This?

They get another future first to use in their newly started rebuild. Ross is great but he’ll take away from the young guys developing. The Magic also have a player in Harris that when healthy can actually ball & will need his minutes as well. Orlando also gets two veterans in Temple & Satoransky that can mentor the young guys & teach them how to make it in the NBA. They’re also decent role players to have come off the bench & provide valuable minutes. This isn’t a must do trade for Orlando but it would be a smart one because it helps them long term.

Magic Ideal Starting Lineup:

Suggs, Fultz, Wagner, Issac, & Carter Jr

Backup Five:

Anthony, Hampton, Harris, Okeke, & Bamba

Rest Of Bench:

Moore, Temple, Satoransky, Wagner, & Lopez
