WHY RAPTORS DO IT:
They love positionless players, for Siakam they get THE positionless player. Same contract and younger too.
Then, they sacrifice expiring Boucher and a second to swap Dragic for T-Ross. Ross, expiring 11 millions player next season, would be one of the tastiest players on the market at 2023 deadline.
Starting 5: FVV, GTJ, OG, Scottie, Ben
WHY MAGIC DO IT:
Hield > Ross, but he's not "twice as good" like their contracts suggest. For this reason they also get Springer, a 50-50 possible swap and a second. However, with his contract decreasing and only 2 years left, he will be more and more tradable. Danny Green could also be a trade chip.
WHY KINGS DO IT:
Basically, they swap Barnes with a similar player but paying him twice as much. But they get to dump Buddy Hield with Gary Harris and get a first.
Starting 5: Fox, Hali, both Harris, Holmes
Second Unit: Davion, Davis, Moe/Svi, Metu, Boucher/Birch. 2 firsts in the draft.
WHY PHILA DO IT:
I did it for the Ben-Tobias package rumor.
After this trade they don't pay luxury anymore, BOTH this and next year.
Starting 5: Maxey, Curry, Barnes, Siakam, Embiid
Second Unit: Dragic, Thybulle, Korkmaz, Niang, Drummond
Next year they can re-sign Dragic for cheap, let's say 5-6 millions AND use full MLE. Imagine this team with Batum/Ingles/Otto Porter/maybe TJ Warren instead of Korkmaz.
