++WHY ROCKETS DO IT++

Pretty easy here IMO. Wall is currently the leagues highest paid coach. And while thats great for the youngins, Wall deserves to play for a meaningful team. Swapping him for Love and Rubio makes the most sense on paper. Rubio and Love are far better than Theis and Augustine, despite the recent outburst by Theis and Augustines 3pt%. The young Rockets need more mentors on the team and thats exactly what those two are. Love has always heaped praise on KPJ and Rubio can help transition Garuba more to the NBA and America in general (both played for Spain). Clarke is a MASSIVE pickup and understandably costs them picks, while Wiggins can start at the 3 with Tate gone. The Rockets use their cap space to help other teams (Warriors).

++WHY ROCKETS DONT DO IT++

Giving up picks. Yes a rebuilding team should be in assest collection mode, but with how many picks theyve collected, it may be worth spending a few on some solid (and in Wiggins case VERY solid) players. The other things is having too many vets. While Gordon, Theis and Augustine have been shipped out, theye essentially replaced them with Rubio, Love and Wiggins. Rockets may want to give more time to their 4 rookies.

++WHY CLIPPERS DO IT++

Wal > Bledsoe. Its pretty much that simple. Gives the Clips another running mate with George and you hope Wall declines his last year and signs a longer cheaper deal. The price is pretty low for taking a swing on a missing piece. Wall is better than Bledsoe i think thats fair. Ibakas production can be replaced by Hartenstein. So the biggest "loss" would be Morris, whos minutes can be filled by Batum/Winslow.

++WHY CLIPPERS DONT DO IT++

They see Wall as too much of a risk and too expensive to take on. Losing Morris loses them big man depth - despite playing PG and Kawhi (when healthy) down a spot.

++WHY GRIZZLIES DO IT++

Theyre having a bit of success with the 3 guard lineup of Morant, Melton and Bane. Bringing Brooks back could muddy the water a bit as a dude who has taken a lot of shots away from his team mates traditionally. They look at filing the bench out as opposed to getting another starter for Brooks and pick up a couple first round picks for doing so. Gordon has been on fire to start the season, and his 2 years (3rd year pretty much non garunteed) might be worth the risk to help push the Griz a bit further.

++WHY GRIZZLIES DONT DO IT++

They like Dillon Brooks too much, and think they can get a better return. Dont like the 2 years $18m left on Gordons contract.

++WHY CAVALIERS DO IT++

Losing Rubio stings, but they get another capable backup 1 guard in Bledsoe. They also get a SG replacement for Sexton who looks like will miss a considerable amount of time. Having Brooks at the 2 (which ive been told is his best position by Griz fans), means they can still run their big line up. Despite having 3 monsters starting, the Cavs are somewhat small on the bench. Morris and Ibaka help with that, and given the Cavs early season success, this wouldnt be a case of dumping vets for a buy out. They could genuinely contribute to a run at the play offs or at least the play in

++WHY CAVALIERS DONT DO IT++

Hate saying this, but they want to embrace tanking for another couple years. IMO this makes the team significantly better and helps flesh out their bench, so in doing so might go against their "plans" to pair Mobley with another high pick in next years draft. Losing Rubio, who may have been the spark to help the Cavs early season success.

++WHY WARRIORS DO IT++

The Warriors are facing down a historical luxury tax bill. This cuts over $14m from that. Theyve also been on the hunt for a backup pg and another big man. Theis and Augustine fill those for relatively cheap.

Jae'sean Tate.

++WHY WARRIORS DONT DO IT++

They value Wiggins. Which is understandable. They gave him his best ever season last year and he fits what they need. However with a bevy of wings at their disposal maybe its a risk theyre willing to take?
