Why Atlanta makes this trade
The Hawks bring in a good 3-D wing at the PF position that fits better next to Trae Young + Dejounte Murray and they also acquire a pick later in the future for their first this year because they are in win-now mode, so Atlanta doesn't need their pick this year and a 2026 SAC pick will hold more value if the Hawks want to make another trade down the line.
Why Sacramento makes this trade
The Kings get an offensive upgrade at PF and they move rookie forward Keegan Murray to the 3, where he fits better in the NBA because of his offensive skillset. This trade gives the Kings potentially a top 10 offense and while their defense will probably struggle, their offense alone could have what it takes to make a playoff push. For an organization that is desperate for a playoff appearance, this move gets them much closer to their goal, even in a loaded western conference. The Kings have a roster that finally is a good fit around De'Aaron Fox, and he could have a huge year, potentially making the all-star team, and he can lead this team to the playoffs.
