Lakers - Josh Richardson, 2022 #38 2nd Round Pick

Lakers acquire a veteran 3 & D wing in Josh Richardson with some size in exchange for the long and very skilled ball handling Talen Horton-Tucker. The Los Angeles Lakers lack wings with size who can shoot from the perimeter & that can play defense. Josh Richardson is a wing defender who can hold his own against other highly skilled wings such as a Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Brandon Ingram, Luka Doncic, & Jayson Tatum. The Lakers also trade a 2028 2nd round pick in exchange for a 2022 early second round pick in hopes to acquire some great young talent once again in the second round and hope to make something of that young player from the draft. The Lakers have been trying to find ways to either buy or acquire a second round pick or maybe 2 second round picks in this years draft and this trade may be a solution to their hopes. Although the Spurs and Lakers never really make deals with each other because of their rivalry throughout the years this may be the one time the two teams do come to an agreement for a trade.

The San Antonio Spurs acquire a great skilled young ball handling and long potential great defending combo guard / forward in Talen Horton-Tucker. The Spurs also acquire the Los Angeles Lakers 2028 second round pick in exchange for their 2022 #38 second round pick. The pick swaps were added to the deal because the Spurs do not feel the need to keep Josh Richardson along their teams young core as they look to either retool or rebuild their roster so the pick was added to offload the veterans contract and age gap. San Antonio gets younger with the new addition in Talen Horton-Tucker in hopes of a break out season and maybe throughout the years.
