Reading and listening podcast I understood that the Mavs idea was a 'Fred VanVleet' type of contract (4/88m). With NYK involved (and after JB's father words) I think that this offer will not be enough for an extension. I've read that dallas could offer a 5y/175m maximum contract, NYK (or other team) a 4y/130m. A 175/5 contract would be a complete madness for me (but also a 'disrespect' for Luka), huge overpay. I think that dallas could push to a 125/5 just because they don't wanna lose JB for nothing.

Now my question is..Which is the maximum amount that we SHOULD offer to JB? Also considering that JB is UFA, I think that a 'VanVleet' contract is the real JB's value (something in 20-23m/y range but for 5y). I could accept an overpay (like 125/5) if Dallas has a plan B (maybe trade him in the next season trying to acquiring picks or players (hoping in a positive season). A s&t with NYK is also a good option for me (esp if we could acquire robinson and our 23 picks in exchange). My point is: between a huge overpay and the possibility to lost JB for nothing I take the second option.
