Thanksgiving NBA Mill #4: Saddiq Bey trade calls? Jazz want to keep Markennen and Clarkson?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Trades

  • According to Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, Utah has signaled intent to keep Lauri Markennen and Jordan Clarkson. In addition, they've established a high asking price for Jarred Vanderbilt. The other vets the Jazz could move would be Malik Beasley, Kelly Olynyk, and Mike Conley. Olynyk, though, is known to be a favorite of Ainge, which may explain the Bojan trade.

  • Mike Conley being injured and Sexton being forced to be in the starting lineup could change the dynamic of the Jazz' plans.

  • Rumors have suggested the Jazz may become buyers, but the likelihood of Collins landing in Salt Lake City seems unlikely. Atlanta wanted Markennen for Collins, which generated little traction.

  • The Hawks haven't shown much interest in Conley, either.

  • Utah has been looking to trade Rudy Gay, who's contract is negative and will likely be there for two years. Interested to see what the market is for Gay.

  • Surprisingly, Detroit has taken calls on Saddiq Bey from inquiring teams, but it seems the Pistons will continue to evaluate him as trade season continues to approach.

  • Suns are still not that into John Collins, per Jake Fischer, and they don't want to shoulder 4 years and $125 million.

  • The Suns may want, however, another Atlanta target in Bogdan Bogdanovic.

  • The Knicks have targeted a first round pick in a return for Quickley, who is extension eligible this summer, via Fred Katz.

  • Pascal Siakam is targeting a return next week.

  • Delon Wright has been cleared to playing individual basketball. He suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain on Oct 25.

  • There's reportedly not much value in trading for Kyrie Irving.

  • Houston has also been involved in discussions for Rockets forward Kenyon Martin Jr.

  • Hawks wing Justin Holiday is worth monitoring as a potential trade candidate, with the rise of AJ Griffin.

  • Batum and Covington could be coveted by the Clippers, who all agree they need frontcourt help, using their wing depth as an asset.

Contracts/Roster Moves

  • A surgery could potentially knock Cade Cunningham out for the rest of the season.

  • Ja Morant surprisingly returned from his ankle sprain on Tuesday.

  • Malik Beasley actually wants to stay with Utah. Utah has a team option to keep the veteran swingmen.

  • The Sixers are signing former Jazz and Pistons player Saben Lee to a two-way deal, waiving Michael Foster, who just made his NBA debut (he will likely join the Blue Coats). Lee did not play for the Jazz when he was traded with Kelly Olynyk for Bojan Bogdanovic, and he has averaged 5.6 points and 3.3 assists during two seasons.

  • Spurs assigned Malaki Branham to the Austin Spurs yesterday.

Injuries

  • LeBron is expected to make his return on Friday. Austin Reaves has started in his place, and he may move to the bench. Unless Pat Beverley gets suspended.

  • Kawhi Leonard (ankle sprain), Paul George (hamstring), and Luke Kennard (calf) will miss tonight's game at Golden State.

  • Mike Conley and Rudy Gay will remain out on Wednesday vs. the Pistons.

  • The Heat upgraded Max Strus, with a shoulder injury, from out to questionable.

  • Trey Murphy is doubtful for tomorrow's game against San Antonio.

  • Jazz two-way guard Johnny Juzang tore his right wrist playing in the G League and will be out 2 more weeks.

  • Yuta Watanabe is day to day with hamstring tightness, not ruled out for tonight.

  • Caris LeVert is out for tonight's game. Kevin Love is out with a thumb injury. Dean Wade is probable.

  • TJ Warren has reportedly progressed from playing against coaches to playing against players. Whether it was 4 on 4 or 5 on 5, encouraging development for TJ.

  • Ziaire Williams is getting close to doing 1 on 1 contact, per Taylor Jenkins. No updates on Desmond Bane.

  • Mike Muscala suffered a fracture in his left pinky finger against the New York Knicks. He will be out at least two weeks and will be reevaluated.

  • Jimmy Butler (knee) is listed as out against the Wizards. Tyler Herro (ankle) upgraded to questionable.

  • Bradley Beal, Monte Morris, and Rui Hachimura have all been listed questionable against Miami.

  • DeAndre Hunter, with a Non-Covid illness, has been upgraded to probable for tonight.

  • As expected, according to Tim Reynolds, the Miami-Dade County filed a motion in federal court to terminate the FTX naming rights agreement.

  • Jayson Tatum is questionable against Dallas with the left ankle sprain.

  • LaMelo Ball remains out for tomorrow with the left ankle sprain. He continues making progress towards a return.

  • Josh Hart is probable for tonight's game, while GP2, Dame, and Keon Johnson remain out for the Blazers.

  • Isaiah Jackson didn't practice yesterday due to a foot injury he suffered.

  • Trey Murphy was a limited participant in practice yesterday.

  • Bruno Fernando practiced with the Rockets yesterday.

  • Gregg Popovich was a full participant in Spurs practice yesterday, after missing the previous game with an illness.

  • Toronto: GTJ and Boucher are available against Brooklyn. Dalano Banton (illness non-COVID) has been upgraded to questionable via Alberto De Roa.

  • Max Strus is out tonight because of a shoulder injury.

  • Cam Reddish, Mitchell Robinson, and Derrick Rose were limited in practice today. Jalen Green and Josh Christopher, onthe Rockets side, were also limited. Eric Gordon was a full participant.

  • Mattise Thybulle is out tonight.

  • Isaiah Hartenstein is dealing with an inflamed Achilles, can't move like he wants to.

Misc.

  • Patrick Beverley is likely to face discipline with his shove in the back to DeAndre Ayton.

  • Several NBA teams and players have served families with turkeys and meals in preparation for Thanksgiving.

  • John Y. Brown Jr., who popularized KFC and owned the Kentucky Colonels for a short while, died yesterday. RIP.
