Trade 1: Pelicans Land Mikal Bridges

Nets Receive:
  • Jonas Valanciunas

  • Jordan Hawkins

  • Four First-Round Picks

Brooklyn got offers of four firsts for Bridges last year and didn't bite. Perhaps the inclusion of Jordan Hawkins, a slick shooter picked 14th in this year's draft, could be considered equivalent to a fifth first-rounder. And if it comes down to it, the Pels could toss in a swap to get this over the finish line, totally replenishing Brooklyn's draft capital.

Pelicans Receive:
  • Mikal Bridges

Once McCollum recovers from his collapsed right lung, Bridges would join him, Williamson and Ingram as a fourth offensive initiator—one who'd come with the bonus of massive off-ball value as a shooter. And if there's a rangier wing defender in the league than Jones, who's off to a tremendously disruptive start on D, it might be Bridges.

Trade 2: Mavericks Land Dorian Finney-Smith

Nets Receive:
  • Richaun Holmes

  • Jaden Hardy

  • First-Round Pick

If the Nets move on from Finney-Smith, the goal would be getting assets to either keep and develop down the line or maybe deal away sooner if this core plays well enough to justify such an acceleration. They'd get two good ones in this swap with a lightly protected first and Hardy, a 21-year-old who's already a career supplier of 21.4 points per 36 minutes on 43.6/40.7/82.7 shooting.

Mavericks Receive:
  • Dorian Finney-Smith

A reunion with Finney-Smith—one of the primary pieces in that Irving exchange—could be in the works. He is an all-purpose stopper with the kind of low-maintenance, catch-and-shoot-heavy offensive game that would fit perfectly with Dallas' high-scoring guards. He's also perhaps expendable on a wing-heavy Brooklyn team that isn't quite ready to contend.
