The Pacers are looking for a shakeup. How about rolling the dice on Ben Simmons to be that “closer” Kevin Pritchard is looking for? For Indy, this sets up a core locked in for at least the next three years to build around in Sabonis, Simmons, Brogdon, and Duarte. That’s a pretty good path forward.
For the 76ers, they land the all-star caliber player they want while offloading Simmons. Thybulle is included for salary and because he’d be so buried on the depth chart in the guard rotation.
For the Nets, take note of the +2 wins. The analytics say they become a better team. Also consider the possibilities of Harden choosing not to stay next year, declining his player option to join the 76ers on a more secure longer deal. The smoke is already there and the Nets might think that fire is real. Also consider the report today that they’re optimistic of getting Kyrie back, possibly vaccinated. A lineup of Turner, Aldridge, Durant, LeVert, and Irving is a more dangerous team than the one they have now. Thybulle also adds nice depth in the backcourt.
It’s a win for each team.
