Could the San Antonio Spurs be the key to getting Ben Simmons out of Philadelphia and on to the Indiana Pacers?

The Spurs have reportedly been interested in trying to acquire Domantas Sabonis. Popovich has a history of preferring to build around bigs rather than guards. Question is, are they willing to give up Murray to do so? Is a package of Sabonis and two first round picks enough?

If it is, that’s a great deal for Philadelphia. Giving up a player who isn’t playing and a late first for both LeVert and Murray is likely more than they’ll see from anyone else before this year’s deadline. It’s also obvious they want an all-star level point guard to pair with Embiid. Murray fits that bill.

The Pacers give up their best player, but obtain a more versatile player in Simmons, who would be the most naturally talented wing in franchise history. It would also create a great defensive team that Rick Carlisle would love in a lineup of Turner, Simmons, Duarte, Brogdon, and whoever they choose in the draft with a likely top eight pick.
