Differences + my bullshit/ perfect opinions:
Spurs would probably prefer BI to CJ, esp since he apparently is willing to sign for as little as 2/$75 now.
Throw Antonio Reeves Pacers's way-- they got so many injuries, and he's an affordable, playable piece while the team is expensive. Bagley obviously is garbage but it doesn't matter because trading Toppin for expiring money is basically trading for Turner. Next year Pacers are $10M over the cap WITHOUT Turner; they cannot afford both of them. The choice is trade Toppin for cap space to give Turner this summer, or keep Toppin and Turner walks. I don't think it's a coincidence Toppin's usage has shot up as trade season gets underway... Sorry Pacers fans, it's a shit situation but it's where yall stand. Really sucks because I think everyone hoped this year would be a big step forward for yall.
Wizards take on both Collins and Barnes. They're almost definitely trading Valanciunas, so just in terms of Sarr's development this year they likely don't mind adding a vet back in to soak up bruises for him. Collins contract is trash but he's still very productive so not like he's a negative asset (they could probably keep him moving elsewhere if they wanted to). Similar story w Barnes. They aren't trying to win in 2025-26, so really this is just the Bagley + Brogdon deals again for next year-- they will net more picks, again. Yay picks!
Brogdon's expiring for sure has more value to Pels than Collins at $18M next year. Only downside here is they'd absolutely have to move CJ by draft night, no matter what it cost them to do it... but that was probably true anyway? Pels happily plug Toppin in to Zion's injury minutes next year.
Probably all is a bunch of bullshit if the Pacers are OK to let Turner walk.
