Why OKC Does This:
OKC just saw Chet go down for a long time, and with I Hart out for a few more weeks as well, they could really add some big man depth
Now I know the J Dub at center expirement has been working, and he can still play that style of basketball until I Hart gets bac. Kelly is a perfect plug-and-play guy, he won't take anything away. He will only be positive. Getting a big body who can stretch the floor in for this low of a price couldn't hurt at all. They are also just getting a great vet.
They also get off a bad contract in Kenrich Williams, while only giving up a guy who doesn't play for them, and 2 second round picks of their future 900 picks. They will be fine
They also just signed Brandon Carlson who will fill in until I Hart gets back, then I Hart and Kelly can swap.
Why Toronto Does This:
Toronto see value in getting a young guy and 2 seconds (including another second this year) for a guy who doesn't match their timeline at all
I get it, Kelly is canadian, its cool, but this makes much more sense for them, so they do it. They also look to see if they can get to some untapped potential with Dieng, like they did so well with Agbaji
