Orlando Magic x Oklahoma City Thunder | Trade Explanation

The Thunder look ready to win. In fairness, this team is loaded with talent. In particular, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander already looks like the type of player who could lead a deep playoff run. Meanwhile, the Thunder are, in a sense, already guaranteed to bring in a high-level prospect for next season. Chet Holmgren is waiting in the wings. On that note, Bamba is here as a momentary replacement. He’s not as offensively dynamic as Holmgren, but he does offer similar rim protection and three-point shooting.

Bazley may be rawer than Bamba, but he’s also three years younger at 21. That’s a large part of why the Magic do this deal. They’re bad – why not get younger? Meanwhile, Bamba’s place on this team was already in question. After all, they clearly favor Wendall Carter Jr. On the other hand, with Bol Bol emerging in 2022-23, Bamba really looks like an odd man out. If he is, the Magic ought to move him. Meanwhile, Bazley has shown some upside – he’s got the athletic tools to be an impactful defender in this league.

Denver Nuggets x Oklahoma City Thunder | Trade Explanation

It's only a matter of time before the Nuggets realize that DeAndre Jordan isn't the answer as Nikola Jokić's backup and start perusing the trade market for an upgrade. Muscala is a low-cost option, one who spaces the floor at an elite level (42.9 percent from three last season) and does a good job contesting shots at the rim. He's versatile enough to share the court next to Jokić or relieve the two-time MVP for stretches.

OKC adds to its collection of draft picks.
