Analysis: The undeniable top two interior defensive lineman in this class are Georgia’s Jordan Davis and Devontae Wyatt. Davis is arguably the best overall athlete to ever enter the draft and Wyatt isn’t too shabby either. Davis’ big knock is that he only plays two downs, but we don’t actually know if this is true or not as he didn’t need to play third downs at Georgia because they had guys like Devontae Wyatt there to get the sacks. This is my exact concern with Travon Walker, we don’t actually know if he can rush the passer, and I’d be concerned about that as a GM. Tier 2 features three really good, high motor prospects. Pretty much every scout loves one of these three guys based on what I’ve seen and read. For me, Hall and Winfrey are my favorite, but I understand the Travis Jones hype. Tier 3 features some SEC defensive tackles that will be block eaters at the next level along with Idaho’s giant 360 pounder Noah Eliss. These guys won’t be highly paid or likely ever highly sought after, but their ability to eat blocks will allow those in the second level to track the ball easier. Tier 4 is pretty much everyone else as defensive tackles generally get pretty repetitive towards the later rounds. The best value is all of these tiers as would love either Tier 1 option as a late first rounder, any Tier 2 options in the 2nd Round, and any Tier 3 option in the middle rounds.
