My Baltimore Ravens Coaching Candidate Tier List

I can tell you one name who isn't on this list... John Harbaugh.

It's Bird Day! Third coach candidate list I have made today, and it is the third bird team. This seems to be a very controversial firing as some people don't understand why they fire a Super Bowl winning coach and other people seem to have short term memory and only looking at one season. Here's the full context here: Harbaugh took over for Brian Billick who, at that time, brought Baltimore their only Super Bowl. Billick was fired after going 5-11 and was a dead man walking after losing to the winless Miami Dolphins (we built different). They went 13-3 the year before and then fell to win 5 games due to their QB the late Steve McNair due to injuries. The Ravens wanted to change scenery and go after a new HC with a new QB, which turned out to be Harbaugh and Joe Flacco. Fast forward eighteen years, Baltimore is ready for a change of scenery. Why? People are pointing fingers at Lamar leveraging his power to get him fired, it does not seem to be true. What it seems that everyone thought Harbaugh will stay, even Lamar, and the owner Steve Bisciotti went ahead and called the shots and pulled the plug as he is wanting to start over basically the same way they did after Billick. The best way to look at what Bisciotti's vision is that he trusts Ed DeCosta enough to rebuild and revision this team in likeness to the Patriots rebuild post Belichick or the Seahawks rebuild post Pete Carroll. This is also a great move on both sides as letting Harbaugh go before his tank runs out while also keeping a solid roster for the next coach to come in and not having to build a team from the ground up. As for Lamar, I do not believe he is a long term franchise player for the Ravens as his contract will end in 2027. I think the Ravens will either trade him away before the contract ends or just let him walk so they can go after their franchise QB in this upcoming draft in 2027 or 2028. In five years, I fully expect this new coach and new QB will have the Ravens back in Super Bowl contention talks.

One In The Same

  • Vance Joseph, Denver Broncos (DC; 2023-?)

I have said this time and time again, I think he has reinvented his career after that 70-20 loss to the Dolphins (we build Super Bowl teams while we can't win a playoff game). Whoever picks him up should be geeked what they will have in him and his defense. I also think it's a package deal picking up Joseph, you get John Franklin Myers on your D Line and you also get as your OC...

  • Davis Webb, Denver Broncos (PGC; 2025-?)

There is a reason why he is getting an interview everywhere Vance Joseph is getting an interview. I fully expect the Ravens and the Raiders have Vance near the top of their candidate list that they personally asked him who he wants as his OC and decided to interview Webb to see what they possibly get in their offense and the scheme he would bring. If my big brain prediction is accurate, I feel like this is a smart decision for them to be able to talk with his potential coordinator personally instead of blindly trusting his vision and taking one person's word. Now they get two people telling their vision for the team.

The Second Options

  • Klint Kubiak, Seattle Seahawks (OC; 2025-?)

There have been three people the Ravens have announced they interviewed, it is those two up top and Kubiak. Kubiak is going to be offered by almost every team and will have his options where to go, it's just a matter of where. I personally think he should wait another year, but when money talks you listen and listen fast.

  • Joe Brady, Buffalo Bills (OC; 2023-?)

I personally don't see it, but the Ravens have asked to talk to him about the job and since he worked with Burrow and Allen it should work with Lamar and [Insert 2027 QB], right?

  • Kliff Kingsbury, former Texas Tech (2013-18) and Arizona Cardinals (2019-22) Head Coach

Maybe they want to interview him so he can be Joseph's QB coach if he doesn't end up in Tennessee.

The Last Options

  • Robert Saleh, San Francisco 49ers (DC; 2025-?)

Saleh, to me, seems like Vance Joseph from Temu right this second. A great defensive minded coach, had a bad time first time around as a HC, rebuilt his name as a DC again. The only thing with Saleh is I don't feel like he has really changed his image or shown much improvements to this defense from last year without him to this season, just seems like there are more healthy pieces this time around.

  • Anthony Weaver, Miami Dolphins (DC; 2024-?)

Weaver getting a interview makes sense since he is a former Raven assistant. Give him an interview to see if they really need someone who is familiar with players, staff, and other things. I don't see them going that direction, but I understand the interview offer.

  • Matt Nagy, Kansas City Chiefs (OC; 2023-?)

If you want Lamar to look like Patrick Mahomes from the last two or three years or Mitch Trubisky, here you go! I wouldn't trust letting him coach my kid in pee wee football. Glad I don't have a son at this moment!

There is the Ravens coach list. Got one more left, and this is going to be a good one... Let me know your thoughts down below about the Ravens and their coach candidates I have listed.
