2023!! CREIGHTON BOUND!

Scheierman is the ultimate run and gun player, while also being a great playmaker. He is also a perfect example of a point forward. With his great court vision, he can hit passes to anywhere on the floor. In college, he was playing with one of the best lob threats in the nation. He has had countless opportunities to flash his dimes. He can fit into any kind of offense with all of his intangibles. This past season, he played nearly every position. While that won’t be possible in the NBA, he is the ultimate jack of all trades player. He sees the floor well, and knows where his spot on a team is. Inarguably, his greatest attribute is his shooting. He was a whopping 46.9% shooter during the college basketball season. It wasn’t on crazy low volume either. He was the engine of SDSU’s offense, and was required to take lots of shots. In fact, his whole team was built up of great shooters. It is clear that he was taught how to shoot by a good coach, and knows how to take instruction.

Aside from his silky smooth stroke from deep, he is an exceptional rebounder. Against an Alabama team that ended up being the sixth seed in the NCAA tournament, Scheirman grabbed 18 boards. At his size, this is crazy impressive. He had many high rebounding outings throughout the season. He always knows exactly where the ball is headed. Even when in the post with centers, he is able to get rebounds with his sneaky good leaping ability. Despite not being labeled as a great athlete, I believe that his physical tools are being undervalued.

He may still have a hard time defending at the next level, with his less than ideal strength. He fights hard, but does have rough moments on defense. Hopefully he can bulk up and at least become a neutral on that end. Still, the main knock against him is just the competition that he was facing in the Summit League. He was playing against lesser competition than most top prospects. Shooting is one of the most translatable skills in the NBA however. If nothing else, he can act as a sniper to plug into the game during the fourth quarter. I’ll go out on a limb and say that he could be a sleeper first round prospect.
