Lanky, athletic combo guard with big potential. It feels like we see a lot of these come and go, but there's something about Pate.

His defense is what makes him stand out to me. Well, not as it is now, but as it could be. Great feel for the game, and playing in the G-League like he is at 18 makes me confident what he's doing is real.

He works a little harder than most "tough shot combo guards". His off-ball game has more purpose, and it gives me reassurance that Pate can find a home in the NBA.
