Wieskamp is probably the best physical prospect of this group of shooters. He’s built in a really nice frame, which gives him the ability to body some players while he’s running off screens, post up when switched, and have some potential switchability. His shooting is a bit worse than the others, and sometimes he gets open and still passes the ball, but the physical tools combined with the shooting is really intriguing.

Comparison: Allen Crabbe

Ceiling: Etwaun Moore with + shooting Floor: Reggie Bullock, younger

Positives

-Definitely an elite shooter, can hit any 3 pointer in the book, very dangerous spot-up shooter that rarely misses open ones, though he can hit them over a contest as well, over 50% off movement/screens, Duncan Robinson-like shooting ability

-Got better at attacking closeouts and creating some jumpers off the dribble, way more comfortable with his handle, finishes at the rim at an average rate which is good enough for his role in the league

Negatives

-Probably will be hunted on defense at the next level, just not laterally quick and kinda weak for his frame, gets blown by far too easily, we'll see if he can guard quicker 2s or stronger 3s

-Doesn't use his athleticism that he showcased at the combine much in games

-Probably won't be a shot creator in the NBA, not a big problem but limits his ceiling

Likely range: 25-40

When watching Joe Wieskamp at Iowa, I could always see his NBA upside. He has good size, decent athleticism, and is a very good shooter. He could easily become someone like Duncan Robinson at the next level. The issue for me is that I think that is his ceiling. Wieskamp needs to find consistency somewhere else in his game offensively. He also needs to come in willing to work his tail off on defense. I am a fan but I see a solid bench player in his future.
