Really lengthy forward with tremendous versatility on both sides of the ball Beautiful touch in the lane, made a college career off of smaller touch shots Solid rebounder, has tremendous tools to work with One of the most impressive post passers I’ve seen, just sits on the elbows and reads the floor, finding open shooters around the perimeter Worked as a hub for Virginia Tech, just let Mutts get in the post, make plays for the offense around him Length helps him on the defensive end as an interior defender Really fantastic floor general for his position, finds cutters, passes are deliberate and straight Really diverse defensive prospect, can guard 3-5, a little bit of guards Not a proven deep range shooter, showed flashes throughout the year, but never looked comfortable/found a groove Effective when used in DHOs Strategic connective passer along the perimeter Solid off-ball player who always places himself in the right spots at the right time Loose handle, not a natural dribbler with the ball in his hands Gets his butt down, works low on defense Can be a bit over reactive, falling for dumb fakes Flashes of really solid manipulation, uses change of pace, quick bursts to score in the lane See him working Mid-Range-in in the NBA, not necessarily a floor spacer Comfortable open court distributor, pushes the pace with long passes to running wings and guards Contests vertically for the most part Real post scorer who looks experienced away and close to the rim in the key, incredible touch, works well as a dunker Head-on-a-swivel, especially in the paint, for open men. Always looking to make the right play, whether that be making a beautiful pass or trusting his finishing ability Don’t love him as a perimeter defender, struggled against quicker forward Jordan Miller Ball security is an absolutely huge problem for Mutts, has possessions where he moves by chasing loose balls that were striped by mechanical defenders Versatile passer with many dish moves in his bag Isn’t always the most active as a room protector, stays too loyal to his man, doesn’t swat easy shots by incoming drivers Older prospect having been a senior at Virginia Tech this season Real lack of athleticism, isn’t fast, quick, or even that strong as a player. Just a slow forward, unideal. Reads overhelps so well. Most important part of him in the pnr is his ability to read the defense after the pass His main trait (passing) won’t be so effective in a smarter defensively NBA, not much of an impact outside of that Just refused to shoot later on in the season, really limits his playability at the next level Insane 1.5 steals a game in Virginia Tech, gets his hand in the passing lanes so naturally Had point-forward moments in Virginia Tech Really not a small ball big Works really well as a ball-handler in transition, keeps his eyes open on the move, makes the right play Not always the most natural going full speed in the the paint Can telegraph at times Had some real bad misses throughout the year, lacks feel beyond the three-point arc Feet get real close together as he rises above his shooting pocket, follow arm doesn’t elevate with fluidity. Really rigid mechanics from deep. Beautiful footwork in the post. Crafty finisher, has some guard-like abilities below the rim Keeps available in the post Passes cut across the court, yet still get to the shooter in his pocket Doesn’t always trust the lengthy block out process Has incredible passing touch, knows the force he needs to force into his passes, can throw straight bullets, or just give small flips. Both effective, both work in their times

Big: 6'7" / 7'3" WS

Mutts is a strong 4 or small ball 5 who plays versatile defense and makes plays for others on offense. He is a great connective passer that can dissect a defense and hit cutters. He has a decent handle and has some post up ability. As a shooter he's hovered around 33% from outside. Defensively he projects as a small ball 5 who can switch and play up at the level. He is a good rim protector who doesn't block an insane amount of shots but is disciplined and strong down low.

Long Term NBA Role/Ceiling: Starter / switchable big & point forward

Draft Range: Late second round - UDFA
