Nikola Durisic- Serbia (SF) Age:19.4yrs 6’8 214 (Raw Jake Laravia)

Durisic is a skilled offensive player in a lot of different areas. He has a good handle and feel for the game, seeing open teammates and being able to take guys off the dribble even without a great first step. He has some vertical ability to finish at the rim. His shot form looks good but this past season he shot a very poor percentage. Defensively he is not great on the ball and his feel for moving within traffic is not great. He is most likely a draft and stash player.

I really like Nikola Durisic's game and body type for the NBA level. I think he profiles as a big 2 guard or good sized 3, wing scorer with some playmaking abilities. He is a good ball handler who is able to get his shot off in a variety of ways including shooting over smaller guys with ease. Right now he doesn't have the most consistent outside shot statistically but he clearly projects as a good shooter over time. I see a lot of Joe Johnson when I see Durisic, in the sense that he isn't an elite athlete by any means but he has a great first step and is very crafty and creative as a scorer. I don't expect him to be a star or 20 point per game scorer in the NBA but I do think he could fit the role of a shooter/scorer bench player or fringe starter, with the potential to thrive in a situation with one or multiple creators around him. His playing time in the NBA will likely end up coming down to how well he is able to hold his own on defense.

In terms of second-round picks, one of the big questions is whether Djurisic's poor shooting this season was fluky or an indicator. He came into the year viewed as a promising shot-maker, and for a 6'8" wing, his ability to handle and pass seems unique and translatable. Unleashing an underrated jumper has the potential to make Djurisic some new fans in Chicago.

Strengths: Fun playmaker has great vision, has defensive upside to extent, has a great in between game.

Weaknesses: Needs a better 3 (mechanics don’t look bad at all), isn’t the quickest probably could have a better first step.

Promising young shot creator who looks the part but needs his attempts to start going in.

NBA COMP: Chandler Parsons, Sam Dekker

Height: 6’7 Age: 19 Weight: 218 Wingspan: 6’8

Stats: 13/3/4/1/0 41/22/70

PLUSES Keeps the ball on a string and has a feel for creating off the dribble. He uses pivots, pump fakes, and changes of pace to generate room for himself as a scorer.

Playmaking is his best skill right now. He plays with a flair and can make tough crosscourt passes or kick-aheads on the break.

Goes on streaks when he makes contested jumpers taken with a high degree of difficulty that inspire long-term belief about his ability.

Projects as a versatile on-ball defender if he locks in, and he provides size as an interior help defender.

MINUSES Shooting will be a make-or-break skill for him. He struggles from everywhere on the court, both on and off the dribble, despite fluid mechanics. He’s also a subpar free throw shooter, so he may simply lack touch.

Lacks a great first step off the dribble and a second gear when driving into the lane, another limiting factor for his shot creation, in addition to the shaky jumper.

Inconsistent defender with wavering effort levels. He’s often out of position off the ball because of a lack of focus.
