  • Very strong

  • Does a little bit of everything

  • Very efficient shooter

  • Good on defense

  • Good playmaker

  • Really just a reliable player

  • Doesn't really stand out

  • He is a good glue guy

  • Comp: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / De'Anthony Melton

  • Ceiling: Starter

  • Floor: Out of League

  • Expectation: G-league

  • What to Expect: Will be a standout in the G-league, I don't think he'll ever get consistent minutes in the NBA

Tough kid who is a great athlete. His 3-point shot is not great.

Comp: De’Anthony Melton/Cason Wallace/Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

  • elite c&s threat; sunk 39.5% as a senior and 49.5% with a super senior

  • not much shooting versatility; could improve as a movement shooter and isn’t nearly as efficient off the dribble—needs table setters

  • great passer with a high IQ and quick thinking, but he doesn’t actually create openings or advantages himself

  • good connecting playmaker and ball handler, but will likely never be a main contributor in either of those fields

  • great offensive feel; plays well within the flow of the offense

  • projects to be a great perimiter defender; a very solid frame with great scheme IQ, use of body, composure, and foot speed

  • versatile, should be able to hold his own in the post

  • not much of a defensive playmaker, more of a team guy

  • not much of a threat on the drive or anywhere inside the arc

James is a versatile defender who sets a tone with his hustle, and after years of laying bricks he’s worked hard to become a dead-eye, spot-up shooter. And he brings much more than shooting as a crafty playmaker who keeps the ball moving. But without the handle of a primary creator, it’s critical he sustains his newfound success as a shooter.

Pros:

Improved shooter

Playmaking

Defense

Cons:

Shooting off the dribble

Primary creation

Comparisons: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, De’Anthony Melton

Total: 64/100 = Mid First Role: Bench Glue Guy Upside Player Comp: Josh Hart Downside Player Comp: Not Lebron's Kid

My take: He is a lower upside player who just contributed to winning basketball and made winning plays. He can shoot it well enough, move it well enough and has functional size and plus athleticism. I think he should be able to defend guards well and hopefully continue with his gritty game that impacts winning. If he gets into a good situation I could see him as a solid role player but I am not sure there is much there beyond that
