I will be honest, I haven't watched much tape of this guy cause there's barely any publicly available so most of this comes from 2nd hand knowledge.

Vincent Valerio-Bodon is a 22 year old, 6'10 wing who plays for Sopron KC in the Hungarian basketball league. He has seemingly appeared out of nowhere late in the draft process, surprising and impressing a variety of teams in the scrimmage circuit and the Adidas Eurocamp to the point he suddenly finds himself as a legitimate NBA prospect.

To most people his main calling card is gonna be a rarely seen combination of 3 point shooting, positional size, mismatch post up scoring and athleticism/mobility. A 41.2% 3 point shooter this season, he possesses the ability to shoot both off the catch and off movement, while also showing some pullup ability. The jumpshot looks like one of the best as far as this class goes. If you wanna get a bit nitpicky his release might be a tad slow, but as a 6'10 wing who projects to play the 3 at the NBA level it should not be an issue. A fluid athlete, Valerio-Bodon shines at punishing opposing closeouts the most. He is also very adept at taking advantage of size mismatches (which you can imagine there's a lot of them at the Hungarian league) by posting up and finding good, easy shots with his overpowering length and height. He does not have good enough handles to consistently beat his man 1 on 1 off the dribble and create shots for himself at the half court, so he definitely projects mostly as an off ball player at the NBA level. He shows above average playmaking feel as well, displaying his passing skill on drives finding the open man or kicking it outside, both on the half court and in transition.

Defensively his most important tool is his mobility. Valerio-Bodon has excellent lateral quickness which combined with his size and length should mean he'll be adept at guarding around the perimeter. His weight is reported at 200 pounds which limits him to playing the 3 for now, but if he is able to bulk up he might be able to slide to the 4 eventually. He displays good shot blocking feel (3.22% block rate) so he might be able to become a good rim protector as well, especially as a weakside defender.

To summarize, Vincent Valerio-Bodon has an extremely intriguing size + skillset combo, with many of his tools being highly coveted around the league. Personally I find it hard to believe there won't be at least one team being willing to gamble on him late in the 2nd round. But of course there is still a very real possibility teams won't be able to look past the extremely low level of competition he has played in, and rather see the good run in the late draft process as nothing but a mirage.

Player comparison: Cameron Johnson? Keegan Murray? Corey Kispert? Bojan Bogdanovic?

Best fits: Whichever team believes in his talent and are willing to bring him over and invest in his development.
