Rich Paul today on his podcast (Who has Jalen Johnson as a client through Klutch sports) suggested a trade for Giannis to go to Atlanta. As many of us know, Giannis was secretly flown to Atlanta before he was drafted, and apparently the hawks ownership were enamored with him and devastated when he went to the Bucks. This is basically the most the Hawks can offer, and this team would be deadly in the east, probably making it to the finals if not beating OKC. The Hawks have 3 and D players in all the right positions, and with two great rim protecting bigs they would be able to have a very good defense even with Trae. Trae and Giannis would fit very well, as Giannis is an amazing lob threat while also being able to be a better version of the engine that Jalen is currently being. Giannis alone can carry an offense but this team would be absolutely insane. The Bucks would be getting back their hometown kid who looks prime to become a star in the league. Obviously he probably won't get to the level of Giannis, but with the addition of the pelicans pick this year, Milwaukee would also be able to pair Jalen with one of the top prospects in this loaded draft class if they get lucky. Kristaps at this point is a negative asset, and so the bucks would be willing to take it on their books as they look to sell off as many veteran players as possible. I think the hawks will be able to keep the majority of the picks that I have going out in this trade, and so not only would they have a top 3 player in the NBA, they would still have multiple fists that they could then send out later on to get even more talent around Giannis... This trade makes the Hawks, who while looking promising this year still aren't looking like true contenders in the east to the favorite to sweep through the east, and I would probably pick them over the Thunder to win the championship. Obviously it's hard to trade young talent, but when you can instantly compete and probably win a championship right now, you have to do it.
