Andy Reid Takes the Blame After Yet Another Kansas City Chiefs Loss

The Kansas City Chiefs have competed in five of the last six Super Bowls; therefore, there would not have been many that would have even entertained the prospect of the Arrowhead Stadium side missing out on a postseason run, but that’s the direction things are heading in after yet another defeat for Andy Reid’s underperforming roster.

Three defeats in four pretty much meant that the Chiefs’ clash with the Houston Texans was a must-win encounter, but it was one they limped to a 10-20 loss on their home turf. To Reid’s credit, the experienced coach, with three titles to his name, has taken the blame squarely, though this may not prevent the 67-year-old veteran from being fired come the end of the campaign.

Kansas City Chiefs fans who still feel their side can make it to the playoffs might want to back those high hopes with a wager, in which case, this list of the best sportsbook promos could prove very useful indeed.

Reid took over at Kansas City in 2013, having spent 13 years in charge at the Philadelphia Eagles, and in February 2020, he led the team to their first Super Bowl triumph since 1969, before repeating the feat two more times.

However, that may all stand for nothing if Chiefs’ owners feel it’s time to move on. Discussing their latest loss, which brings them to 6-7 for the season, Reid outlined where it all went wrong against the Texans.

"I thought we could get it. That was the decision. I was confident we could do that,"

"It's important that you take advantage of opportunities, I thought it was an opportunity.”

"I was wrong. In hindsight, it was wrong. We've been pretty good on fourth downs, so I messed that one up." Reid added.

Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes also offered his thoughts on the defeat, commenting.

"They did a good job of passing off the crossers,"

"I tried to get the ball to Rashee. I think I was a little late. [Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.] made a great play breaking on the ball. We just have to execute at a higher level in those big moments. It's something we haven't done this year."

"We've been close all season."

"You've got to go out there and make it happen. I've got to make the throw a little bit earlier so [Lassiter] can't close [on the ball]. We've got to make those plays."

"You're just getting late in the season, and you're not going to get these opportunities back," Mahomes said. "That's a good team, but we had chances. We didn't execute at the right time to win it." Mahomes added.

On what is required to keep their season alive, Reid added.

"Listen, it's never over, so you keep battling,"

"I've been doing this a long time. I've seen some things, so you keep going."

The Chiefs sit in third place in the AFC West, some three wins back from second-place Los Angeles and five from top of the division Denver. They face both of those two at home, and wins will be needed from those games to stand any chance of producing what would now be a miracle season comeback.
