The Bulls are banking on defense and promising young players

SUCCESS

The Bulls are investing a significant portion of their draft capital into building a solid roster around their existing young players.

  • The Celtics trade D.White and receive the new contracts of C.White and 2frp. Given Tatum's long-term injury, the Celtics are still deciding whether or how to move on the market. D.White is a fantastic player in both phases, but he's already 31 and under a long, significant contract; therefore, given the departures of Holiday and Porziningis, Boston could take advantage of this "bye" year and let him go as well, rejuvenating the roster around the two stars Brown and Tatum. C.White and 2frp seem like an excellent offer to me, especially considering the team's financial situation isn't the best and their roster is still incomplete.

  • The Thunder are trading C.Wallace for Ayo's new contract and 2srp. Obviously, OKC doesn't need to change anything on their roster, nor do they need draft picks, given the immense amount they already have. However, OKC could have a big problem in the near future, namely, in two seasons, because starting in the 2026-27 season, they will have a guaranteed team salary that will exceed $200 million, not counting the various team options for key players including Dort and Hartestein, which would make the total salary skyrocket to almost $250 million, an unsustainable salary given the salary cap policy that would leave Oklahoma paying plus than $200M only in luxury tax. So, while trading C.Wallace won't solve this huge problem, this would be the only season where you could trade him for something valuable in return and not lose him to the f.a.; and Ayo's excellent new contract plus 2srp seems like a return of value to me.

  • The Suns trade Brooks for Z.Collins, J.Carter, 1frp, and 1srp. Phoenix, given the Durant trade and the moves made on draft night, is clearly looking to rebuild (especially since in the West, if you're not super competitive, you won't make the playoffs). So a good defender like Brooks is of little use to a team that wants to undermine them. That's why two unprotected draft picks and two expiring players, which will free up cap space in the short term, could be the right offer to convince Phoenix.

  • The Jazz are trading Kessler for J.Smith, D.Terry, 1frp, and 1srp. Barring any unexpected developments, Kessler will remain in Utah, but if there's a rift between the player and the team, this could be a valid offer. Kessler's contract is expiring, and the Jazz are asking for 2frp to sell him. This offer goes beyond the Jazz's demands, because in addition to the 2030 frp and 2028 srp (therefore more valuable, as the starting point is more unpredictable), there are two promising young players, J.Smith and D.Terry, who with more playing time would have the opportunity to improve and increase their value.

  • The Bulls would make significant changes to their roster with trades, f.a. signings, and re-signings/extensions of their players; so Chicago's roster would be composed of the following:

  • Guards: Giddey, D.White, Brogdon, T.Jones, C.Wallace, Huerter and Yuki.

  • Forwards: Brooks, Buzelis, Okoro, Essengue, P.Williams and Phillips.

  • Centers: Kessler, Vucevic and Olbrich.

  • Starting lineup: Giddey - D.White - Brooks - Buzelis - Kessler.
