Maxey to the Bulls

FAILED

In this scenario, the Bulls trade Giddey for a guard who more closely matches the characteristics sought by B.Graham.

  • ATL trade: The Bulls trade T.Jones for B.Hield and the 23rd pick in this draft. The Hawks have two needs: a player who can lead the offense and a solid defensive and offensive center. Given the recent rumors, it seems obvious that they'll select A.Mara with the No.8 pick, this would solve one of those problems and allow them to focus on the other. T.Jones would be the perfect player to solve Atlanta's second problem, both in terms of his on-court ability and his contract, given the excellent contract he recently signed. Considering that T.Jones is already a player who alone can be worth a high FRP, if we add B.Hield's bad contract for Atlanta it's an opportunity not to be missed. While for Chicago it would be a trade that allows them to increase their draft capital and acquire a contract that would help them reach the salary floor.

  • PHI trade: The Bulls trade Giddey, Okoro, 2frp (the 15th and 23rd of this draft) and 2srp (the 38th and 56th of this draft) for T.Maxey. The Sixers have proven, for years now, that they're a team capable of making the playoffs, but not capable of winning them. The situation in Philadelphia is complicated because with PG and Embid's heavy contracts, and the latter playing perhaps half the games, it's virtually impossible to build a competitive team. For this reason, I think the Sixers should try to build the best roster possible, expecting to be ready in two/three seasons when at least one of those contracts will have expired. I believe they've already made a move in this direction with the McCain trade, and with this Maxey trade, they'd make another to build on VJ's timeline. Giddey is younger than Maxey and is a better fit alongside VJ, plus adding four picks, including two first-rounders, to such a talented draft can only be the right move. It would make sense for Chicago because it's a move that would allow them to add an All-NBA-level player to the roster (despite his terrible run against the Knicks), without losing their future draft capital, just picks from this draft, and thus still have control over their future. Plus, I know Giddey's departure might not be popular given the potential he's shown this year, but given the characteristics Graham is looking for, he could be the one to be sacrificed.

  • OKC trade: The Bulls will receive Dort and Topic in exchange for cash compensation. This trade is very simple, OKC needs to free up cap space. Dort and Topic will be in the group of the sacrificed players in 99% of the case this offseason, so, considering they both have team options, rather than lose them for free, the Thunder will trade them to Chicago for cash. This allowed the Bulls to acquire a young and a top defender at a bargain price.

  • Draft pick: with the No.4 Wilson.

  • F.A. moves: sign M.Williams for 45m over 3 years, K.Ellis for 10m over 2 years and re-sign N.Richards and Yabusele for one year at minimum salary.

  • Bulls roster after the offseason:

  • Guards: Maxey, Dort, Dillingham, Ellis, Topic, Hield.

  • Forwards: Buzelis, Wilson, Miller, Essengue, P.Williams.

  • Centers: M.Williams, Smith, Richards, Yabusele.

  • starting five: Maxey - Dort - Buzelis - Wilson - M.Williams.
