With this five-team trade, the Bulls are exchanging a significant portion of their draft capital to immediately become competitive in the East.
TRADES
The Suns traded their star D.Booker and received Giddey's new contract, three unprotected frp, and two expiring contracts (including that of a good center like Vucevic). It's obviously unlikely Phoenix would trade Booker, but if it were to happen, it would be a clear sign of a serious rebuild, and I think this offer could be considered valid.
The Mavs are trading Gafford for J.Smith, D.Terry and 2srp. The Bulls need a solid defensive center, and Dallas doesn't consider Gafford untradeable, so two young players and 2srp could be the right deal to convince the Mavs.
The Blazers are trading Grant and 2srp for P.Williams and 1frp. Trading a terrible contract for a slightly better one usually makes little sense, but in this case, it would allow the Blazers to further rejuvenate their roster (thus giving more playing time to promising young players), save cap space and, most importantly, regain control of their frp, it would also allow Chicago to have a ready-made and experienced player and receive 2srp to use to acquire Gafford.
The Nets trade Clowney for Huerter and a srp. The Bulls need to free up cap space and a forward to complete the roster, as the Nets have an advantage, given the large cap space available, for Clowney they'll also get an excellent guard like Huerter and a srp.
In addition to the moves made in these trades, the Bulls signed Brogdon in f.a. and extended the contracts of C.White and Ayo to higher figures, so the Bulls' roster will be composed as follows:
Guards: Booker, C.White, Brogdon, Ayo, T.Jones and Yuki.
Forwards: Grant, Buzelis, Okoro, Essengue, Clowney and Phillips.
Centers: Gafford, Z.Collins and Olbrich.
Starting lineup: C.White - Booker - Buzelis - Grant - Gafford.
