Bulls offseason plan after the last news

In recent days, there have been reports of Giddey's trade and Ja's possible arrival in Chicago. Considering we're in the rebuilding phase, our GM's focus is on adding young, promising players to the roster, trying to increase our draft capital, and buying what appear to be market opportunities on the low side. Giddey's departure isn't necessary, and since we're in a great situation for the first time in years, Josh will only be traded for the right price. The Grizzlies and Morant are in the opposite situation, as Memphis has already expressed its desire to part ways with Ja to finally get a fresh start, and during the trade deadline, they were looking for a tanking team to absorb his contract.

  • Trade 1: The Rockets receive Giddey for Vanvleet, 1frp (the best between BRK and HOU 2027) and 2srp (MEM 2027, SAC 2029). Houston has had several issues this season and hasn't lived up to expectations, one of the biggest being the lack of someone capable of moving the ball. Sheppard tried, but he proved to be more of a SG than a PG, and with Vanvleet's injury, the Rockets have suffered from this lack. Giddey would be a perfect fit for Houston's current structure because, in addition to being a top passer (and thus solving this problem), he is also 6'8", above average for his position and therefore would fit the characteristics this roster is looking for. Above all, at 23, he fits perfectly into Amen and Sengun's timeline, thus being able to form a future big three. While for the Bulls, a trade for one older player, who is coming off an injury and with a player option that will likely decline plus 1frp and 2srp would never be accepted if it weren't for the potential value of the frp that Houston is offering, because he is a potential lottery pick for 2027 (given the unpredictable situation at BRK). According to various rumors, Giddey's value is estimated around 2frp plus role players or 1frp plus promising young players, but if the Rockets were to call and make this offer, I think I'd accept.

  • Trade 2: Memphis is trading Ja for Dillingham, Okoro, and P.Williams. This trade has been proposed several times by various sites, even involving the swap of draft picks in this draft, so Chicago would have taken the 3rd pick and Memphis the 4th, which I eliminated because it seemed like an excessive scenario. Morant has played 79 of 246 games available over the last 3 years, due to his physical and behavioral issues. His market value has never been lower, and the Grizzlies' desire to part with him has never been higher, so it seems natural to me that you won't receive the best return. This trade makes sense for Memphis because, in addition to getting rid of Morant's contract, they're getting two role players and a very promising player in Dillingham to complement the rest of their young core. It also makes sense for Chicago because it gives them the chance to see if Ja is still a good player at a low price and frees them from P.Williams' contract.

  • F.A. moves: L.Dort signed for 60m over 3 years, Ayo signed and returned home for 57m over 3 years, O.Agbaji signed for 16m over 2 years and J.Sochan signed for 14m over 2 years.

  • Draft picks: with the fourth pick C.Wilson (10.7m), with the fifteenth H.Steinbach (5m) and with the thirty-eighth L.Suigo (2.41m).

  • Bulls roster after offseason:

  • Guards: Morant, Vanvleet, Jones, Ayo, Agbaji, Dort.

  • Forwards: Buzelis, Wilson, Essengue, Miller, Sochan, Dort.

  • Centers: Steinbach, Suigo, Smith.
