Peyton Watson is so much better than people think, and the stats prove it. This guy isn’t just a 3 and D wing, he’s a defensive mastermind with an incredibly underrated shot. Him and Mobley might be the future of Cleveland if they can play their cards right.

For starters, this guy was absolutely carrying the Nuggets defense last year and he was a 3 point sniper too. He was the first western conference player to reach 50 blocks, 50 steals, and 50 threes. Not only was he doing that, but he was also providing the team with solid rebounding and he didn’t just shoot threes. He was an elite all around player.

He was also one of the only players who wasn’t a Jokic merchant, the stats show it too. He stepped up when it was needed. Last year he averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, and 1.5 threes while shooting 41.1% from beyond the arc. When Jokic was out, he averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 boards, 1.5 blocks, and 2.3 threes on 44.3% from beyond the arc. When Jokic was out he stepped up, he became the man on the team. He kept the Nuggets afloat, not Jamal Murray, Peyton Watson.

Now, in Cleveland, he is the perfect fit. He provides elite shooting and a great target for Harden and Mitchell if they get stopped and him, Mobley, and Allen provide an elite defensive front court. Cleveland has a chance to cause some noise this year and Peyton Watson will be the center of it. Despite giving up a lot for Watson, the Cavs still managed to win the deal.
