Base Trade:
Cavs Receive: Terrence Davis, Richaun Holmes
Kings Recieve: Caris LeVert
NOTE: This is the starting point for the trade. Draft picks could potentially be added.
My Thoughts on Proposed Trade Idea:
Initially, when the Cavs traded for Caris LeVert, I was excited and thought he would fit well. However, adding Donovan Mitchell to the Cavs has not helped LeVert's fit, forcing him to catch and shoot more than create for himself. I want to see him go to another team to shine for his sake.
Holmes has b en rumored to be on the trade block for a while. Davis has struggled to find consistent playing time this year, given that the Kings have a crowded backcourt log jam at the 2/3.
This trade turns two expendable bench pieces into a solid rotation piece in LeVert for the Kings. Levert's best fit would most likely be to come off the bench to provide more playmaking and scoring for the second unit. The Cavs gain another option to try at the 3 in Davis and an insurance policy at the Center position in Holmes, should Mobley or Allen get hurt again.
WHY THE KINGS ACCEPT TRADE:
The Kings could use additional playoff experience to prepare for their first run in a decade-plus.
Adds another shot creator to remove pressure off Fox and Sabonis in the 4th quarter, giving them another option to close out games.
Opens up Cap flexibility by getting off of Holmes' deal.
Clears up another roster spot to add another player via free agency or trade.
WHY THE CAVS ACCEPT TRADE:
Davis would be another spot-up shooter who plays decent defense on the wing to try at the 3.
Adds another center in Holmes, who could serve as a solid backup center for the next few seasons.
Creates more space between luxury tax.
Final TRADE GRADES:
CAVS: B+
KINGS: B+
Not the first trade I would do as a Cavs fan, but definitely a secondary option to consider.
